LIVE BLOG: Utahns cast their ballots on Election Day

It's a couple weeks after the rest of the country, Utahns got their chance to vote Tuesday for a variety of different offices and measures.

Live results can be found HERE beginning at 8 p.m., but follow all election news here throughout the night.

9:03 p.m.

After coming up short to Celeste Maloy Tuesday, Democratic candidate Kathleen Riebe shared these thoughts on her election run.

“This campaign has been the honor of my political career, and I look back on my travel, interactions with voters, and thousands of donors and supporters with fondness and a deep sense of gratitude. I am confident that the Second District’s new representative understands the need for functional government that works for the people, and will advocate tirelessly to keep our country, state, and democracy strong. I know I will continue my work towards building my party, and restoring balance to our state.”

8:45 p.m.

Celeste Maloy thanks her supporters after winning the special election to replace Chris Stewart in the U.S. Congress as Utah's District 2 representative.

8:02 p.m.

Moments after the polls closed, the Utah Democratic Party released the following statement:

“This year, we had over 100 Democrats all across the state step up to run for local office, and we have been extremely proud of the hard work and long hours they have put in. Running for office is difficult, rewarding work, and I want to personally thank and congratulate all of our candidates, no matter the final result of their election."

The polls have officially closed across Utah.

7:52 p.m.

Supporters gather in Salt Lake City for what they hope will be a victory party for Celeste Maloy as she attempts to win the special election for Utah's 2nd Congressional District

Salt Lake County Elections officials thanked the Utah Jazz and Jazz Bear for a friendly lunch visit today.

Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson started the day by sharing unofficial turnout number for the race to fill Utah's Congressional District 2 seat.
